Colts quarterback Andrew Luck could practice for the first time this season as early as Wednesday.

Coach Chuck Pagano said Monday he’ll have a better idea of Luck’s availability on Wednesday, which is the next time the team will practice.

“Andrew is progressing well, getting stronger and there might be chance,” Pagano said. “He might be able to start some practice this week, but I’m not guaranteeing nothing, so don’t write anything. There’s a possibility.

“When our doctors and our trainers tell me that he’s at a point where he can get back out there to begin to practice, then I’ll be able to tell you for sure. He’s doing well.”

The Giants receiver was a limited participant in practice Thursday and Friday, his first time on the practice field since injuring his ankle Aug. 21 in a preseason game. Beckham told reporters Thursday he’s dealing with a six-to-eight week injury timetable, which would still put him a couple of weeks away.

While Beckham will be a game-time decision for the Giants, coach Ben McAdoo doesn’t want to rush him back into action.

“The biggest thing is, you don’t want to put a player out there that is going to do any harm to himself or injure himself any more than he is,” McAdoo told reporters Saturday. “It is an injury. It’s a tough injury. He’s fighting through it and doing everything he can to get back, but we’re going to be smart with him.”
